Anna is originally from Utah. She moved with her family to Indianapolis in 2007. Her 10 year-old son and 56year-old twin girls keep her very busy and her house a little bit more messy. Anna likes to take photographs (even though she can't use Photoshop), appreciates good music (although she cannot sing a note) and always likes to find new, fun things for her family to do (except skydiving or bungee jumping because that's never going to happen). The Children’s Museum Haunted House Ticket Giveaway

What do Star Wars, Pac-Man, and Michael Jackson have in common? They are all featured in The Children’s Museum Guild’s 50th Anniversary Haunted House, Time Warp: 50 Years of Fear. Visiting the Haunted House at the Children’s Museum is a tradition for our family and this year I was able to attend a preview of this year’s Haunted House which runs from October 10-31.

Boo! at the Children's Museum Haunted House

This Haunted House is the first year of incorporating 3-D effects. Honestly, it was so cool. I couldn’t believe how things were popping out all over the place. I kept pulling down the glasses to figure out what was really right in front of me and what was just an effect. You don’t have to wear the glasses (my preschoolers opted not to wear them) but I loved the effects (and I’m not even a 3-D movie fan). It was a lot of fun.

This year’s theme is original and highly entertaining. Each of the rooms is based on a different decade which is where Star Wars, Pac-Man and Michael Jackson come in. The rooms start in the 60’s and goes through the decades even through the future. It is pretty amazing that the Children’s Museum Guild has been managing the Haunted House for 50 years making it the nation’s oldest continuously-running haunted house. They deserve a party. And it is a party complete with the witches party room (check out their cake in the photo below).

Time Warp Haunted House: 50 Years of Fear

Obviously, being at the Children’s Museum, children are expected to attend. But what if your kids are easily scared? You’ll want to go during the lights-on hours. Just a note, even with the lights on, your child might be scared. I didn’t have crying girls on my hands but I did have tired arms from carrying my 3 year old twins since they wanted to be held. If your children can handle something more intense, there are frightening hours. And Friday nights from 9-11, there is Xtreme Scream hours (recommended for teens 15 and up). Check out the Choose Your Scare  feature on the Children’s Museum website for more description about the different scare levels. For tickets, visit the website childrensmuseum.org/hauntedhouse.

Children's Museum Haunted House

If you are visiting the museum for the Haunted House, you might want to make a day of it and visit the special Halloween Haunts exhibit. Your friends will be jealous when you can say that you saw the Chilled Monkey Brains head from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

One lucky reader will win 4 tickets to the Haunted House at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Enter below via Rafflecopter. The contest closes Friday, October 18th at 11:00 PM EST. Good luck!
